Update on WP8 Extensibility hooks

By | December 27, 2012

Last week I sent this to Windows Phone Dev Support:

One of my Apps uses the Search Extensibility capability. After WP8 was released, the version I had on the market, which was supposed to have been recompiled by MS for WP8, doesn’t work on WP8. Likewise, after going through and building a WP8 version that passed certification, once users download it from the marketplace it doesn’t show up under the ‘Apps’ area of Bing search results. Please let me know what I can do to solve this problem. From what I am seeing there isn’t anything new for WP8 and App Connect/Search Extensibility, so I would appreciate prompt attention to this so I can get it resolved. Thank you.

On Monday, I received this:

To date that’s the extent of it. From my point of view, and past experience w/ the WP support center, I think this means we have a legit issue on our hands, folks. For me, I saw that despite seeing the app in the “Apps” list of a search result on the simulator, and on a WP8 device that had the XAP deployed to it, when the App was certified and published to the marketplace, the app connect hooks were gone.

I’ll keep my readers posted on what ends up happening.

Special thanks to @Zarniw0Op for bringing this to my attention.
